Eat, Grow, Glow
"What
you put in, is what you get out" may seem cliche but in fact a
balanced diet is the best solution to looking and feeling your
best.Regardless of the hair products or skin creams one use, nothing
compares to the effects gained by eating a nutritious meal.Of course,
genetics and even your immune system play a huge role on your
appearance.
On
average, hair grows 1/4- 1/2 an inch per month (WebMD).There are many
great hair and skin products on the market but these products alone are
not sufficient to looking your best. Eating a balanced diet provides
your body with the needed nutrients to carry out bodily functions. So
before you splurge on the next shampoo and conditioner or even a beauty
cream that promises radiant skin, take a trip to the supermarket and make
sure you have the super foods listed below.According to Fitness Magazine, there are 10 Super-foods for Gorgeous Skin and Hair:
- Blueberries = antioxidants that protects against premature aging.
- Wild Salmon = omega-3 fatty acids which promotes healthy skin along with vitamin D which strengthens bones and teeth.
- Spinach = iron, calcium, omega-3 fatty acids all of which helps the production of sebum, the body's own conditioner secreted by hair follicles (WebMD).
- Oysters = zinc which promotes healthy nails, hair and eyes. Not a fan of oysters, try beef or lamb instead.
- Tomatoes = lycopene, another powerful antioxidant.
- Walnuts = omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E which promote brighter eyes, strong bones, hair growth, and smooth skin.
- Kiwis = full of vitamin C which aids in the prevention of wrinkles.
- Chocolate = keeps skin hydrated and even prevents sun damage. Try dark chocolate containing at least 60% cocoa.
- Yogurt = Calcium!
- Sweet Potatoes = beta carotene, an antioxidants that fights aging.
Don't forget to take a trip to the supermarket and try some of the super foods above in conjunction with your beauty regiment.

To Eat or to Ex-foliate? That is the question.
When I was younger, I used to watch my mom put cornmeal on her face. {Cornmeal is made from ground dried corn and can be used as a thickening agent in sauces.} I was always looking forward to cornmeal porridge or even fluffy, soft, moist cornmeal dumplings. But little did I know that this yellow, starchy substance was not just for cooking but for beautifying the skin.Who wants cracking skin, ruff to the touch, or simply dead, dry skin that prevents the pores from breathing? After using this cornmeal facial, my mom's face and skin would become smooth and soft to the touch and believe me to this day, her face remains soft, and supple. A dose of this wonderful, effective home beauty regiment will have your skin thanking you in more ways than one.
You will need:
- 1/2 Lime or lemon
- 1 whole egg
- a tablespoon of cornmeal
- 1or 2 cotton balls
- Your favorite moisturizing creme
Instructions:
Step 1:
- Start out by squeezing 1/2 of lime or lemon into a small cup or spoon
- Take the cotton ball and dip into the juiced lime or lemon for absorption
- Take the cotton ball and rub all over face using upward strokes
- Let the juiced liquid set on your face for 2-5 minutes then rinse
- Pat dry face.
Step 2:
- In a small bowl whisk the egg then mix in with cornmeal
- Massage mixture on face and let set for 2-5 minutes
- Rinse face thoroughly, pat dry then use your favorite moisturizing
creme for a healthy beautiful glow!
